You may be hitting those top rankings you want, and your SEO may be blossoming, but that does not mean you will be at the top forever. It also doesn’t mean you can’t improve further. Search engine mechanisms are not the only threat to your online success because marketing, in general, has never stopped evolving. Here are several important tips from all of us at 411 Locals as to how you can improve your content marketing for the coming year. Call it an early Christmas present, if you will.
Tip Number One — Review What You Already Have
It may be close to the mind, but you will be surprised just how many people skip that part. Go through what you already have in your existing strategy. Ask yourself: Is this still relevant to my goals for 2019? Look at the stats and numbers, how were your campaigns performing in the last 12 months? Are you looking to keep the same numbers or increase them?
If you don’t have a documented version of your content marketing strategy, now is the right time to make one. Many don’t do it, and they lose because of it. Be the smart one in the room.
Tip Number Two — Focus Your Efforts on Your Best Performing Channel
The times when people looked for your brand or business information only from your website are long gone. Interested users and devoted followers alike check your social media channels, and many go to your website as a last resort. You need to cover all grounds. So, research how your SMO is doing (Social Media Optimization) and target the most beneficial channel for you.
No need to try and be in 100 places at the same time. That is not what optimization is all about.
Tip Number Three — Create Meaningful Content Only
Don’t fall into the trap of creating content for the sake of having more content. Before you sit down and write a piece of content, ask yourself:
- Is it relevant to my target audience?
- Does it fit into my content marketing plan?
- Does it provide new and useful information to my audience?
If your answers are negative, put down your pen (figuratively speaking) right away. You will gain nothing from content that does not serve your business goals or your audience.
