Ideas for your blog posts by 411 LocalsWe’ve covered why you should set up a blog right? Blogs can help your optimization, offer your customers information they are looking for, and establish your business as an authority in your industry, which is very valuable when it comes to branding and ultimately increasing new customers and keeping current customers. Please see past issues for ways to create a more effective business blog.

Here we are going to talk about what to write about. See if one of these ideas sparks something valuable… and if it doesn’t refer to number 1.

1. Okay, if all else fails, just don’t post. You’re better off skipping a post or two than risking the integrity of your blog with posts that just waste the time of visitors. But there’s usually something cool to post about, so read this.
2. Make a blog post that shows them how to use your product or service… easy right? Okay so maybe you thought of that. We have more.

3. If you sell a product (or sometimes it works for a service) come up with ways they may use it that they may not have thought of before. That’s a good idea in general for any business. You might find you were missing a profitable angle.
4. Compile information about your industry in general. Make sure it’s something of value to your customer. Like, your ranking amongst other businesses that do what you do is okay for a sales page, but no one cares in your blog, instead look for things that involve the customer.
5. Talk about any volunteer work, charities, etc. your business is involved in and always mention how anyone reading can get involved as well. Talk about the cause, not how wonderful you are for helping the cause, that’s very important.
6. Create a contest. Make a response to the post a part of the contest. (But never make reviews of your business a contest, probably goes without saying, but that is considered black hat by search engines and may hurt optimization, plus customers hate it and will think less of you for doing it.)
7. Find older posts and see if there are any updates to be made.
8. Do you have commercials, videos, radio spots? Make it a post.
9. Create an infograph.
10. Create a seasonal post, and tie in how your product or service may be of use in this season, in an informative way.
